I’m sure you have all heard the expression, “If you don’t like the weather in New England, wait a minute.” Last year at this time I was saying how February was 20% colder than a normal February. Well, not so much this year. Degree Days for February 2016 alone were off about 11%. That is an incredible change from last year. In fact, the entire heating season to date is about 17% off that of a normal year, and 23% off last year. The crazy weather patterns have shown us the bitter cold on Presidents Day this year(70 Degree Days), to the near 70 degree temperature we saw in early March. We even had Thunderstorms in February as far north as Maine. What all this warm weather means for you is big savings. In conjunction with the low price of oil right now, your household expense for heating is likely to be about two thirds of what it was last year– maybe even less. On that note, please read the important infor-mation below regarding your monthly payments and any changes that need to be made. Thank You.
IMPORTANT UPDATES FOR OUR MONTHLY BUDGET CUSTOMERS
To say that budget projections this year have been a challenge would, indeed, be an understatement. Even though adjustments were made at the end of January for the February budget billing, the weather remained warmer than normal (see above) and prices remained relatively low. All of which adds up to GOOD NEWS for you, our customer. Please look at your statement that you received this month. MOST of you will find that you are carrying a credit balance on your account. You may find that even though you can anticipate one more oil delivery this season, your existing credit balance will be sufficient to cover that de-livery ( Figure $425 approx for an average delivery) If your credit balance is greater than that, it is not necessary to make your regular budget payment this month. For the remainder of the season, we will be looking at balances only-not how many budgets are due. If you’re unsure whether you will get another delivery this season, please call us and we can advise you.
If you have your budget automatically charged to your credit card, the same applies. If you have a suffi-cient credit balance to cover any anticipated deliveries, your credit card will not be charged unless you spe-cifically request that it be charged. Our goal in requesting this “non-payment” is that your balance come as close to -0- as possible at the end of the budget season.
Should you have billable service, and if you do not have sufficient credit balance available then this amount will be billed as usual. Interest on your credit balance will continue as long as your account re-mains as a “budget”. Any credit balance that you have as of June 30 will be distributed into next years’ budget figure, thereby reducing your monthly budget amount.
Thank you, as always, for your continued business and the confidence you place in Rand-Handy!
